Mayor Pro Tem Shaun Whitehead is committed to enhancing Oak Park through strategic assessments, a new recreation center, and parks & trails. With over $6 million invested in Sheppard Park, he’s working to make Oak Park's parks the best in Oakland County.

Mayor Pro Tem Shaun Whitehead is dedicated to revitalizing Oak Park's business district with a social district, enhanced parking, and city-wide facade renovations. By working with planning commissions, he’s focused on attracting new economic development opportunities.

Shaun Whitehead remains dedicated to celebrating Oak Park’s rich cultural diversity by continuing cherished community programs such as Juneteenth, the July 4th Parade, and World Dance Day. Having served for over five years as the ACDC liaison, he understands the importance of these events in bringing our community together.

Mayor Pro Tem Shaun Whitehead is committed to strengthening the Department of Public Works by reducing stress on laborers and strategically investing in infrastructure improvements mile by mile. These efforts enhance efficiency, lower operational costs, and ultimately reduce expenses for residents while ensuring Oak Park remains a well-maintained and sustainable community.

Shaun Whitehead is committed to transforming the library into a dynamic portal hub for the city. As a Library Board Trustee, he helped secure a $100,000 capital outlay to enhance its infrastructure. With the city’s recreation overhaul underway, Shaun sees opportunities for the library to expand its role, offering new programs and resources that benefit the entire community.

As your Mayor Pro Tem, Shaun Whitehead is committed to enhancing our vibrant community life by continuing cherished traditions.  With the newly approved Event Hub, we’re creating a centralized space to host these beloved events more efficiently.  We can't wait to continue to build on this vibrant,  growing and community. 

Mayor Pro Tem Shaun Whitehead believes progress starts with listening. Shaun Whitehead is dedicated to enhancing public safety with new body cameras, increased resources, and the hiring of nine officers to replace retirees. He also supported the approval of drone equipment, advanced training programs, and the delivery of a state-of-the-art, million-dollar fire truck—ensuring a safer Oak Park for all..

Court funding is a critical issue, and as an established lawyer, Mayor Pro Tem Shaun Whitehead understands its impact on public safety better than anyone. He is actively involved in solutions to keep our community safe. With years of service on the Traffic Safety Board, he has firsthand knowledge of key resident concerns, including line-of-sight tree obstructions, potholes, and speeding, ensuring a proactive approach to improving road safety.
